Maxi Jet Powerhead Question

I just got 2 Maxi Jet 1200 Powerheads and had 2 questions I was hoping someone could answer.
1) Am I supposed to use the Undergravel Filter Adapter + Adapter End Cap or just the Prefilter Grid? (I don't have an undergravel filter... but that adapter looks safer for invert/coral/fish?)
2) Should I use the Venturi feature or not?

Personally, I use the pre-filter grid and cap off the hole for the venturi. I have three mj 12's in my tank.

1. Just use the "prefilter grid". Nothin wrong with that.
2. No, don't use the venturi, at least not for a reef tank. It should come with a little plug for it. Hope this helps!
