Maxi-Jet To get H20 to Fuge

Anyone ever used a Maxi-Jet to send water up to a refugium. I don't have a sump and the MAG 5 I bought is very noisy in my tank for some reason. I built a shelf in a closet and went through the wall to it from my display.
I am going to get rid of the PVC piping that is in place now and try some rubber/plastic tubing from the pump to my fuge. I know I don't want too terribly much flow into the fuge so maybe a maxijet 900 or 1200 would work. It would only have to go about 18" up to the fuge from the tank.
Oh, the tank is a 46 bow front and the fuge is a rubbermain container that holds about 15 gallons.
Thanks in advance for any help anyone has to offer.

When I had an above tank fuge, that is how I got the water to the fuge. Then it gravity fed back to the tank.

In my experience maxi's aren't too good at pumping water up, yesterday I tried to use one to pump water from a 5gal bucket up 4-5ft to my display tank and it flowed very slow and actually stopped pumping after a min
