I have recentlly had a 29 gallon tank which i had been set up for like 3 years or so but i wanted to go bigger. Needless to say i used tap water in this tank and all fish were beauitiful and so colorful. So about 2months ago i got my 75 gallon set up was having a cloudy water prob so i went to pet store to ask advise. Told them that my fish in my tank were very discolored. strictlly in the tank is only ro water live rock fish and invertibrates. so i had my water tested by them i also tested my water thinking my reading were wrong or something but they to said my water was perfect. Trying to figure out my all my fish are so faded and dicolored. I said asked about this eco aqualizer there and the guy said that he has 1 and it is prob 1 of the best thing 4 curing ich clearing water and neautrlizing ions and impurities and less water changes and reduce algue growth. Needless to say i ordered 1 gave it a try few days went by water got clear. Still no affect on the fish thou. My yellow tang is discolored and looking at pics on the disease section posts looks like hlle on bottom park of his body without the red eyes of course and tail looks like some1 took a scissors and cut slots in his tail. I have lost a yellowtailed damsel he had white spots on him. 2 clownfish no spots just discolored. the 1 clownfish yesterday while in QT tank. 6 line wrasse netted him to tranfer turned my back for a brief moment dead instantlly. The fish store people told me to use pimafix which the said would prob cure all desease for the most part so i added it to the tank about a week ago the added my carbon back in. Did 20 gallon water change. Still no affect. this was all done b4 a few fish died. I have a small 10 gallon Qt tank that im curing them with superick cure now. They have been in there 4 about 2 days now. All i got left now is my 2 golden cromies and my yellow tang and all my invertibates in the 75g. Needless the say i think that the eco aqualizer is i think a gimmick and sending it back. If it wasnt a gimmick i prob would still have all my fish.

i started to notice a little redness on his mouth and on the top fin this s'morning. But he does seem to be eating fine thou. As far as the 1 cromie i have in there he is a little aggressive looks like he has been bitting my tang thou. so a buddy of mine is gonna take his since he has a 45 gallon set up with no fish in it it has been running 4 2 weeks now. dont know what else to do w/ him. Wonder if the redness on the tang could be from him biting him or not.

From those pics I don't think it is ich or hlle....It looks more bacterial.....I know nothing about bacterial infections, so I suggest you read about them in this forum.....
The tang needs treatment asap IMO

i did change the water in the qt tank yesturday it was looking pretty green. I still if my tang still had ich. cuz he was by my skunk cleaner most of the time wondering if the skunk cleaner torn the fins like that getting the ich off him knowing that my tang is pretting young. Due to the fact that all the other fish did have ich on them. But have also been to it could possibly be velvet.

I highly doubt a cleaner shrimp is going to tear a tangs fins like that..
I just hope Beth comes back and sees those pics....The fish needs help, and I don't know what to tell you to do.....

It is just a little frustrating thou at times. Never had a problem like this b4 but patience is the only key. All thou i did buy a 22pound live rock from a guy on criagslist that ever since i put that big rock in there ive been having a purple almost black algae and stringy so my other thought that the parasites were indeed on the rock when i bought it. so i prob need to cure the live rock now. Cuz in my other tank never had purple algae like this only a little bit of red but mostly green...

The chromis is the problem. I think he will need to be separated or returned to the store.
What are your water readings? How long has the QT been set up? How do you mix your salt water?
Start treating with Maracyn Two for Saltwter fish.

main tank ammonia 3.0 nitrate40, nitrite3.0 kh300 ph 8.4 Qt tank ammonia 0.5 nitrate30 nitrite1.0 kh180, ph8.4. Qt tank has been set up 4 a month now. Prob going to do a water change tomarrow. Main tank is going through its cycle. dont really like to do changes in between cycles but levels are up there. I go to LFs to get ro water. Bring buckets home mix 2 1/2 cuts per 5 gallon use hand to mix it first the put power head along w/ heater then next day use hydrometer next day to check salinity then store it but i check it again b4 i put in tank when ready 4 use. I really need to get an ro unit!! seen pur makes a 3 stage 1 for a faucet for like $20 dont know how well it would work thou...

Just read your last posts and wanted to clarify.. Your ammonia is at what? I fit is at 3 that is the reason your fish are dying, and if not that your trites are! You need to do a couple large water changes, and maybe add some prime to your tank to lock up the ammonia!! Hope all goes well..

no this tank which is now a 75 gallon has been set up 4 a few months now. This tank has been spiking on me. My 29 gallon was set up 4 3 years that i never had a problem with was gr8 but i sold it to a friend cuz i wanted a bigger tank. So i just tested the water on my 75 gallon my ammonia looks high again. So looks like i got to do another water change again. I have just recently installed i uv sterilizer that i thought this would take care of it and the ich problem ive been having. The lfs told me 2 keep temp at 82 which now im running at 76. They say in most cases that parasites usually die at 80. So so far in the past moth ive changed about 50 gallons of water in my 75 gallon.

Its gonna take some time, It took me about two months to lower my nitrates. I had a 120 gallon tank and changed the water to my 30 gallon with the livesand and it was a mistake. My tank looked crystal clear but my nitrates where as high as a reader can read. I did a whole bunch of water changes and up to now, I got it upto five. But damn is ridiculous how fast it goes to 10 or 20. You need bacterias, do you have any live rock, or cerramic rings on your filter? Anything for bacteria colonizing?
