Maybe our parents were RIGHT

When you're young, you think your parents are "out of touch" or that they don't understand our modern problems.
Then... you get a little older, and you realize that maybe they weren't all that out of touch after all.
Do you tell 'em? Have you ever called up your mom/dad and said "I get it now. I see what you were trying to tell me."
I never took school seriously like they told me to. I blazed through high school, and just barely got through college. I look at my bro-in-law, 6 years younger, and making $30k more than I am.
Maybe they were right...

Personally, I don't know that I could give my dad the ego bump... he's already got a pretty big head. I also know that my mom was wrong, she always said I'd never get a job making any $ if I never finished college, and I make more than 2 of my sisters who both have masters degrees. Of course I hate what I do, but so do they.

You tell them that they were right or wrong? There is a large generation gap between my parents and I. I am the youngest of five. I am 28 and my oldest brother is 42. Not so with my own son. He can't get away with anything because I recall, all too well, what it was like to be his age.

yeah, this happens at my school all the time. I'm a freshman and just started going to this high school in a typical suburb. and since i didn't grow up here I have some perspective, but every kid takes every single ap class and every club and sport so that they can get into college. and they're like "you can't be happy if you don't get paid a lot, and you can only do that if you go to college", and I look at how they waste their whole childhood trying to get into a good college. but sorry for getting off topic
