I know there was a "redistribute wealth" thread, but it was something like 250+ posts and i wasnt going to read it. but i want to get a simple understanding from those who are more versed in politics (and Obama) than i am.
I would have Voted Huckabee, but he apparently ran out of money. Sucks, he was a cool guy. Anyways, now I am beginning to be on the fence and this redistribution of wealth thing is freaking me out. Then again, my vote isnt one of the magical california 55 votes, so i could vote either way, it wont matter.
so lets say i know someone who invented and owns the patent on a device that every home now has, lets call him Craig. Now Craig, being 68 years old, worked his whole life, worked his butt off, and now as a result of his lifes work, he now pulls in $250k a year.
What is Obama going to do about that? hes just going to take away $50k from Craigs income and give it to some other guy??? what the heck is that about? am i understanding this right?
Is it just me or does this "take from the rich and give to the poor" Seems really LAME for those who really worked their arse off for that money. If i was making that much i sure as hell wouldnt want the next president to take that hard earned money from my pocket and "redistribute" it
It's really just a bunch of crap. The "redistribute wealth" thing has been sooo taken out of context and was a poor choice of words on Obama's part. The reality of his ideology is that he will not continue to give tax breaks to the wealthiest 1%. Instead of hitting the middle class with the largest brunt of taxation, he will increase taxes on the wealthy.
This idea has been completely manipulated by some short-sighted Obama detractors on this board to represent some form of socialism. The reality is that it's just an issue of which group pays higher taxes... the wealthy or the struggling middle class.
