WOW reb that really seems like a lot of Nassarius snails in a small tank to me. I have 5 in my 29 gallon and it seems like almost too many. But I don't know as I had bare bottom until last week when I put sand back into the tank.I like the Nass snails but I wonder how much meat they can find in a sandbed that is only a few inches deep in such a small tank. How big is your tank and how many are you keeping and how is it working out?
Not trying to hijack your thread mckevinfang but this seems like pertinent information to us both, hope you don't mind.
I have maybe 10-15 in my 14 gal...
Ive always kept alot of Nass n Cerith Snials. Have always been my fav esp with my feeding habbits!
When I feed they pop out ouf the sand everywhere. Always a joy to watch as well. Even if its just flake or pellets food. If it hits the sand bed they move to it and fast! And if im feeding some of my own mixed food they " GET SILLY" lol... But they can really eat a lot of un eaten food. Not gonna help u with algeas, but if ur having algea on the sand bed theres prolly a lot of nutrients just settling their and they can take care of it! Or no flow, and in that case their helping u keep that sandbed stirred up!
My sandbed in my 14 gal tank is less than 1/2 inch... So its not much sand, but they keep it stirred up really good.
And ive nvr had a problem with them dying as well. Besides in my beginner days when I enjoyed watching hermits. And they would kill them easily for no reason.
