mean blue face

My blue face angel has suddenly started to shred my blue tang and naso tang. These fish have coexisted for over three years with no problems, and the only thing that has changed has been the addition of new rock, which I have used to create some caves for the fish. Could this have created an opportunity for the angel to become extra territorial? Any suggestions?

Blue face angels are not the nastiest, but like most large angels they are territorial and can be mean. Mine was just pushy and would chase others away from his place, wherever that happened to be. With age and size can come aggression. You and the other fish will have to get used to it.

i would keep a close eye on them. if it gets worst then i would move the blue face to a differnt tank.

with this allof a sudden aggression towards your tangs is a sign of sexual maturity. there is nothing you really can do. same thing is happening right now with my queen angel. she picks on my maroon clown, blue damsel, and leaves the lion alone. she use to coexist with everything. now i'll come home and the maroon or the blue damsel will have pieces of fin missing.

These are all going to be large fish, is it possible your tank is just getting too small? Is any of your fish adult size yet and what size tank to you have, more specific what is the length?
