Mean Damsel

I Have A Pink Damsel Mean As Hell. Last Night My Hermit Crab Tried To Change Shells And In The Process He Was Attacked By The Damsel. The Same Damsel Also Attacks My Peppermit Shrimp Which Was Trying To Scavange The Vunerable Hermit Crab That Remained Out Of Its Shell. Needless To Say The Hermit Crab Is No More. I'm Tempted To Give Away The Damsel To My Lfs. At The Risk Of Sounding Redundant, Has Anyone Else Had These Types Of Problems With This Fish ?

I had (until last week) the meanist devil spawn of a damsel in the entire world - he would actually chase my Lionfish!!!! Mine was a Garibaldi Damsel
I ended up buying a fish trap at the LFS for 50.00 because nothing else worked (soda bottle method = or anything else I read about on this board) and within 2 minutes of the trap being in the tank I caught the spawn of satan and took him to the LFS

Lol Glad To Know I'm Not The Only One. He Is The Only Fish In A Nano 20 High. He Came From My Other 10 Gal Nano Because He Kept Attacking My Other Saphire Damsel. I Guess Cuse He Was Smaller And Came Ino The Tank Second. My Wife Was Heated And Wanted Me To Scoop Him And Flush Him Down The Toilet. I Had To Turn The Lights Off To The Tank So She Would Stop Looking. It Was About That Time Anyway.

Flushing him down the toliet while he was still healthy was probabilly the cruelest thing you could have done. The fish will probabilly live for quite a while down there.... hope your happy....
Always bring unwanted fish back to a LFS, even if you wont get any credit for it. If the fish is sick, the most humane way to kill it is to smack it hard against a hard sureface... ie a counter.
good luck!
BTW: Go Pats!

I hope so!!! and even if we dont as long as the Patriots dont then all is good with me! (Hubby is a Pats fan) As you can tell from the avatar I am a huge Steeler fan
so what LFS do you go to? the best in my opinion around here is Wet Pets in McMurray I love that store! followed a distant second by Seahorse in Allison Park
I do agree that flushing a healthy fish is mean - but I can understand the desire to want to - I had a lunar wrasse that I didnt research to well before the purchase of him (he was already 8 inches long) I woke up one morning and he was the only living fish left - he killed everyone - I took him out and brought him to Atlantis on Rt 51 and he put him in with his Moray eel - within 2 minutes the eel ate the lunar wrasse - it was horrible to watch but somehow ironic at the same time!

I dont think he said he did - I think he said his wife wanted him to - also I didnt think Saltwater fish would survive in Pittsburgh Sewage - have you seen the color of our rivers? we may have three but they are pretty horrible brown colors - you cant have a steel industry like we had for that long without doing serious damage to the waterways in the city

Lol Maybe You Misunderstood What I Said. She wanted Me To Flush Him Down The Toilet. The Only Fish I've Ever Done That To Were Dead Ones. I'm Not Cruel. And I've Already Called The Lfs And They Will Give Me $2.00 For Him. Its Either That Or Nothing. In Which Case I Would Give Him Away For Nothing Because I Want Him Out Of My Tank But I Won't Throw Away $2.00 If They Are Offering.

Wet Pets makes all others in the area look like *****!
their live rock is about 6.00 a pound which seems to be the norm around here - Atalantis is good but the selection for agressive isnt that great - he seems to be leaning more towards reef set ups (which is a shame because I can honestly walk to his store from my house!)
Elmers - while I love the price of equitment and tanks I have never had a fish live that was purchased from there - but all my wet pet purchases are doing very well
Wet Pets has to easily have 40 tanks of SW fish plus an entire row of inverts - plus two full tanks with rock and sand =
AND recently they decided to call the New Orleans Aquairum to see if they were ready to get started again and donated a ton of stuff to them including their sharks
That alone made it so I will never buy livestock from anywhere again!
