Mean maroons. Need help fast!

I have had a 2-3in maroon in my 155 for a few months now, and a day ago I purchased a baby 1.5in one. When I added in the new one, the former attacked him, and tore one of his fins. I placed the older one in a floating coulander(sp?) Overnight, and am looking for further advice.
Should they be alright with time? Or does it just depend on the attitudes of each?
Any ideas how to allow them to get along better?

Chance are that your Maroon clown will never accept another clown. It will probably kill that sm. clown within an hour. I had a great pair of maroon clowns and when my male died I tried attempting to get another male, did all the right things, got a small maroon and she killed it in about five minutes. After that she killed any new fish added to the tank. Maroon and Tomato clown fish are the most aggressive of all clowns. If you do and I would not, put the clowns together you might try changing the rock scape and add the sm one with the lights off. Good luck

Well, I left the smaller guy in there overnight, and when I came the next day, I noticed he was a little chewed, and that was why I separated them.
I've heard of people adding new ones, so I'm hoping it will work out eventually..I really want to keep the new little guy :/

You wanted advice and I know alot of people out there will agree with the advice I gave you. If your tank is that big and the Maroon clown still attacked it, it is not going to work. If I had recieved the same advice I would not have a dead clown on my conscious. Your best bet is to take the large female clown back to the LFS and get two sm. clowns, house them in the same bag to take them home and you will probably have a good pair in no time.

This are my clowns and I have too many years keeping clowns so I know of what I speak. If you do have success it would be miracle.

It's not impossible but they are the most aggressive clownfish. It is hard to get a female to accept another male. Especially at her size. Some females have more aggressive characteristics than others too. It's chancing that the little male may die even given the best efforts. I'm not trying to completely discourage you but I'm just saying don't get too attached to the male. Either he's going to have to go or you can just put him back in the DT and see what happens. She'll either chew him up a little and then leave him alone when he submits to her and quivers or she'll kill him.

I don't think your female is going to accept this male. Usually maroons have to be added together in order for it to work out. Since your female already tore him up, I'm not too hopeful of this outcome right now.
If you are really set on having a pair of maroons, I suggest trading your female in to your LFS, getting another baby and place that with your new male and pair them together at the same time in the tank.
Maroons are EXTREMELY aggressive. If you allow your female to kill this male (which it's probably going to do) you'll probably have trouble adding any new fish to your tank after that as well.
My female clown is extremely aggressive, I can barely get my hand in the tank without being bit.

Thank I love them, they act like a pair of labradors, I really wish they would show some signs of egg laying.
