im cycling my tanks with shrimp. I tested the ammonia and nitrite levels and my ammonia has spiked to 4.0 and hasnt changed in the past couple days.....and now my nitrites are starting to spike...up to 4.0 now....sinse the ammonia has been stable for a couple days..is it ok to take the shrimp out....? another thing...how high can i expect these levels to spike during cycling...??

you can leave the shrimp in until if fully decomposes if you can handle the smell, but yes, you can take the shrimp out now.
 
as soon as my tank clouded up, i took out my shrimp - this was one day after putting it in - but it was a very large tiger prawn, and it was an itty bitty 5 gal quarantine tank. took 3 days, but my cloud is gone. i'll be testing the water soon.
