Is MELA FIX a good Med for use in Reef Tanks?? If i read correctly it said it could be used in Reef Setup.
What's your opinion of this product?? Is it good?? Is it actually Reef Safe??
Please advise!

I only have a FO tank with a few inverts but I have used Melafix to treat popeye as well as a few scrapes on my fish. It works quite well in my opinion, the popeye cleared up quickly. Turn off your protien skimmer when you add it though because I naturally forgot and the skimmer when nuts! The melafix didn't seem to affect my starfish or shrimp at all. My lfs uses it to treat all his SW tanks in the store including the coral tanks and according to him hasn't had problems

Hey what are PHOTOSHYNTHETIC INVERTS (can you give some Examples of them)?? So you're saying MELAFIX will eventually harm them!
So what would be a good MED for fungus/bacteria in a REEF tank??
What about Maracyn or Maracyn II??

Thank you Terry for posting that info!
I would be interested in any reefers who use any of these meds to give us some long-term results in terms of what happened to their reef tanks, so over the course of a year.
Most reefers won't put this in their tanks though, so I doubt we will ever get any takers.
