LOL...as creator, an artist myself...the second creation is made better without the flaws of the first.
That being said, there is a funny thing we came up with in our Torah study on Sabbath...it goes like this:
God looked down on his creation and decided that it wasn't good for man to be alone.
God, the the ultimate and first parent decided that man, even in those early stages needed a babysitter, also...women, though it got us into trouble, were the ones seeking knowledge...man was quit happy just peeing on the bushes, running around without cloths and eating uncooked food.
Silliness aside...
Her punishment was to be under her husband. According to Torah, a woman who is divorced can make her own decisions and be expected to be responsible for them. Until married she is under the authority of her father. While married, a woman is covered by her husband, and HE is responsible for all she may do wrong. Thus while it is a punishment to be under the authority of her husband, it prevents her from further getting into trouble..it is all on his head...she is safe.
So it really has nothing to do with being equal, but rather who has to be in charge of decisions, and who will be held responsible for them. Thus it is better, if a woman marries an alcoholic, drug addict, wife beater or with a man who creates any other unlivable situation..to get a divorce, which frees her from the authority of an idiot. She would be better off making her own decisions.
So for the hardening of our hearts (a man who can't learn to do right) God wrote us this precept, he hates divorce. It is not however, the unforgivable sin a certain religion claims it is.
