metal halide bulbs

I need some replace my bulbs. need a little help in deciding to go with aqualine buschke 250 wtt 10,000k or the 10,000k superwhite blueline or the 10,000k XM i need to decide soon, I have 4 vho 72 in actinic. any help out there. or would u go with a 15000, metal halide and go with super white on vho.

I like the bluer hue and just setup our MH fixture w/2x150W for 75g tank with XM 15k bulbs. I have the same bulbs for our 400W retro that are going to a 150g tank.

which brand of bulb is one better than the other? 1.aqualine buschke 2. bluleline or 3. xm. if i went with the 14 k metals would u recommend me buying the super white vhobulbs?

That depends on your ballast. Each ballast/bulb combination produces different color hue and different PAR values. Have you checked on a site called Sanjay's reef lighting? You plug in what ballast you have and then you can view the different specs with different bulbs and reflectors.

the bulb that i really like is ushio but i was tod that bulb woulnt work with an electronic ballest do u no if this is true

I think thats wrong ,but im not sure.I think its the magnetic ballast that are the limited ones.(Like i have) M58 ballast.Maybe SCSInet will chim in and give you some good advice.

Ushio's should work fine with an electronic ballast, they just frequently fail to fire on a probe ballast. I have read poor reviews on the output, specifically par on xm's 10k, I have used aqualines 10k (13k) in a 175w and will be soon using them on a 150w hqi fixture from what I read on Sanjays study that they had some of the highest ouput ratings amongst 150's. I have also been pretty happy with Ushios performance, but I am not sure where they stand with their bulb specs. Hope that helps some!
