Metal Halide Heat

I am kinda looking at a new lighting fixture for my 90 gal tank. From what i have read, the metal halides produce a lot of heat and raise the temp of the tank a lot. How much can they raise the temp in my tank? Is a chiller or fan by my tank really needed?

You will most likely need fans. Metal halides can raise the temp in your tank anywhere from 2-5 degrees just depends on the tank. But even a 2 degree shift in temp from lights on to off is not good. Just get the fans, you will will also notice a increase in evaporation, but that is a good thing IMO.

thanks for replying
i keep the temp in my house kinda cool so i was hoping that would help, plus the heater i have on the tank a bit underpowered. i was hoping that it would all balance out.
