Metal halide lights

hey i just went to my lfs and asked about the coral lights
he said that Metal Halide(spelling?) is a good type and that they cost about $400-450 with the shipping added
i want 1 that wont run up my energy bill

There's a little more to it than that. What do you plan on keeping in your tank? How big is your tank etc...?

yup, they'll up your electric bill....but for those soft corals you won't need that much lighting...try vho or pc lights...75gal is fairly shallow...look for a 4x65wt by current usa or someone...should do nicely for you, plus they're ~215 bucks on eb@y..

Whatever the wattage is, is how much electricity it will use. A 250 watt metal halide uses the same amount of energy as a 250 watt incandescen t bulb.
