If I wanna get Metal Halide lights do they come in tubes or bulbs and I want 450 watts for a 75 gal. Should I get 225 or one 450 watt bulb. On a web site it shows this 400W 20,000-Ushio "New Product. It is $79. Am I getting ripped of with this cuz everywhere else it is like $600. If anyone has time to check this out to see if its a good deal please reply. http://www.hellolights.com/400watt.html

MH come in 175w, 250w, and 400w. Unless you go with double ended, then the price goes up.
Bulbs are $100 or less. A retro is $400-$500. The whole set up will run you aleast $600. But this all depends on where you shop.
DIY will be $200-$300 for a 2 light setup.
Your 75gal is 4ft long right? You will need a 2 light set up.
175w is OK but 250w would be real nice, but it'll heat up your tank also, keep that in mind.
HTH, good luck.

Try ----. You can get cheap retro kits on there. All halides will heat up your tank but you can buy small fans to help keep things cooler. DIY=Do it yourself

I have one 175 watt 12k bulb on my 44 gal. It is blue in color. It did heat the water until I put a fan in my canopy, now it isn't too bad. I am also in the process of putting another 250 watt MH in and will add another fan for more air flow over the water surface.

If you want a good bulb that will last you a long time, has great color, and is cheap, then get the Xanium 15K bulb. It is German-made, and a 400W MH bulb is only $65 right now. That is really cheap! I tried one out and won't use anything but. It's a perfect bulb, plus, because of the Kelvin, you don't need any actinic supplementation, IMO. The bulb is atHelloLights.com

To tell you the truth, I'm not sure anymore what type of bulb it is. I believe I read somewhere that it was German-made bulb, but I'm not sure where, if, I read it anywhere.
