i read somewhere that you need to have UV glass infront of your MH bulbs, but then reading tizzo's thread they were talking about needing them for DE MH, do you need them for SE bulbs? can someone please clarify, because ive seen alot of DIY hoods and some dont seem to have any glass between the bulb and the tank.

u only need them for double ended bulbs the single ended bulbs have the uv filter built into the glass in the bulb

Yep as Murph stated only for DE MH's

its best for the bulbs and you lighting to have the glass between the water and the bulbs due to salt creep splashing enything that can get the water on your bulb.its stated for MH bulbs not to tought the glass part with bare hands or it could cause the bulb to burst.oils and such from your skin maybe same goes for the salt.just a hunch.
