I'm sorry but I can't seem to find anything in the web. Metal Halide or Actinic Bulb??
Under my lid it says only 30 watts per flourescent. what can I do now?? Do I have to change the activator for one with a bigger output ???? what do I actually need for corals??

Ditch the old hood. You will need something a LOT more powerful than what you have on there. You will probably want to look into getting (2) 150 de 14,000K MH bulbs. Also, you will want either PC or VHO or T5 flourescents as well. Get (2) actinic and (2) 10,000K white lights. That will allow your corals to live happy and healthy. If you just want corals on one side of the tank, you can get away with only one MH.
You also need more LR too.

What kinds of corals do you want to keep? Clams and anemones too? No point in getting metal halide lights if they're not necessary to you. The setup will cost you around $500+.

I actually had a question allong those lines...
sort off...
What all can you have with out MH lighting?
If I got a 03 actinic and a 10,000 K light what would I be able to keep in a tank?
Are there any corals, anemonys, or etc that don't need MH lighting?

Thanx all for the help. How much LR are we talking about here? Can I go about the new system step by step and if yes where do I start?
