how is a 400 watt 5000k mh bulb in comparison to a higher (k) bulb?

You have a 100 watt 5K MH bulb that's white with a blueish tint over a reef tank? Either your color blind or the bulb is mislabled

Ive never ran a 5K , but I used to run 55Ks that were a crisp white in combination with actinics. You can only trust a K rating so far, for ex. ushios are rated 10K though they are only a tad bit whiter than iwasakis which are rated 65K. Im sure on their own they wouldnt be a nice color to the eye, but shallow water corals would love them since the K rating of the sun is around 55K at noon. What brand is the bulb?
