does anyone know how hot a 5500k 175 watt bulb gets??

Hot enough to instantly burn your arm if you accidentally touch it.That is the bulb I have,and it left a burn that was peeling the next day.I've been burned worse,but take my word for it,you don't want to touch that bulb.

Does anyone have or know of the double ended MH bulbs? These look similiar to the halogen bulbs use in house lighting. I believe the Azoo MH lighting fixures use these bulbs.
Would just like to know if anyone had an opinion on these....they would certanily save some lighting space, and leave room for more lighting fixtures if they were any good.

do you mean hot to the touch or hot in heating up your tank? A simple fan will keep it cool the water. blow a fan over your water not on the bulb. hqi doulbe end bulbs need hqi ballast and usually are in pendants so you don't save room

How big and hot do Icecap ballasts for MH and VHO run?
