MH canopy

ok i wanna buy a canopy i was given 2 175 watt MH bulbs and ballasts, i wanna buy a canopy for these for my 75 gallon tank, can i get a standard canopy for this, i think its like 8 inches tall, or do i have to get a special MH canopy? what do you guys who have MH use?

Most available canopies are 6 inches in height. You will save a lot of money if you make it yourself...check out OZREEF.org for some info on DIY canopy. Have fun

but will a 7 inch hood work for my tank, i heard that MH bulbs need to be at least 8 inches from water, will this work

The bulbs themselves need to be at least 8" above the water. You would do best if you have a total height of 12" for the canopy.
