I have been hearing that the MH bulbs you can buy from home depot are not the right kelvin temperature. Where do you buy MH with the right spectrum? Also are mercury vapor lights usable for a aquarium?

I've heard (not my personal experience) that mercury vapor will cause a yellow look to your aquarium, but will provide for excellent growth. One of the guys who works at my LFS does it; he says it looks bad, but does a great job...

It won't cause a yellow look to the tank.....the bulb itself gives of high amounts yellow light

, but will provide for excellent growth.

Just like Kipass4130 if you use those types of bulbs you're asking for Algae hell!!

Like I said, I've never done it, just word of mouth. He claims to have excellent response from corals... I have no info on his hair algae situation... I personally don't want a yellow tank; Hair algae can be controlled, yellow cannot!
With regards to the yellow look or yellow spectrum (Both have held true in his case, pictures do look yellow with them on) As it is in the visible spectrum from my understanding...
