just got DIY MH lighting kit and would like to know where people put the very heavy ballast since the insructions say not to place them close to the bulbs. On the backside of the canopy OK or somewhere else. I know it is not a good idea to put far away as lenghtening the wires can contribute to more heat and possible lower voltages to bulb.
