MH lighting

Hi I have 500W MH lighting x 110W T5
They recommend to place the light about 8-12 inches above the tank.
BUT, will there be enough light to reach the bottom of tank?
I thought the wattage I have is good for tanks 21-26inches deep..
plz explain :notsure:

Yes, you can still get good light penetration even with the mh bulbs 8-12inces of the water. The vhos could be closer...they wont penetrate as deep.
