I am think of buying a 175 watt MH light for my 55 Gallon Hexagone tank. How deep with the light support coral. Do i need a Power compact to?

250w 24-30"
supplementation is always good (adding actinics)

I am getting it for $80 used but the bulb will have to be replaced the guy says good deal i think.

Yeah 175's would work, but depending on bulb selection meaning kelvin rating you might want atinic supplementation.....

You'd probably also want to use more than 1 175w MH ideally.

I put a 250 mh 15k on my 35 hex....AWSOME

how long is your 250 mh

The 250 length would be about the same as the 175
