If i change my lighting with mh can it be on top of the cover of my tank its a glass cover??

I wouldn't rest a MH directly on any surface as it is a fire hazard. MH's generate a lot of heat. You need to find some way of elevating the light slightly above the tank. I'd suggest at least 6 inches. Also make sure your lights have UV shields or you will fry everything in your tank.
If you use the glass canopy (like I do), make sure there is at least some area of the tank that is uncovered or the MH's are going to raise the temperature of the tank too much.
