I have a 36 gallon corner tank that is about 28 inchs deep. I was wondering if a 250 W MH would heat the tank up to much if I dont have a chiller or do you think it would be ok.

you mean 46 g right? I don't think they make a 36.. and no a 250 would probably be fine on a 46, just make sure you've got fans running over the tank and the light is a few inches elevated off the waters surface at least.

yeah it will be fine also to reduce the heat problem you can hang it up to reduce the heat problem, instead of putting it inside hood..
