MH/T5 fixture recently added, chemistry changing?

Hello all.
A couple weeks ago I replace a PC fixture with a MH/T5 (2x150w MH / 4x54w T5's) and a couple observations have caused me concern.
It took a few days to get temp regulation under control, but now seems to vary between 78-80.
Lighting schedule :
T5's 11am-11pm,
MH's 12pm-10pm.
Brown string algea(??) appearing in alot of places.
BTA the last few days has been withdrawn, and areas appear brownish.
Seem to have lost a few hermit's, the first few days was constantly flipping them over, possibly falling off glass. May be related to temp control already mentioned.
Water parameters as of 10/9
Nitrate=0
Nitrite=0
pH = 8.0
Amonia = 0
sp = 1.025
System is a 75g
35g sump
90lb live rock
cheto/skimmer
canister with chemi-pure/bio-zorb
My thought is to cut back the MH's to about 4-5hrs per day to get the brown stringy agea undercontrol, but will that effect by fish / corals which consist of
Hiipo tang
2xMarron Clown
2xFire Goby
serpent star
star polyp
zoo
bta
clam
kenya tree
Thanks in advance,
Greg

did u light acclimate ut corals? when u go from pc to such intense lighting, u should leave ut mh on only a small amount of time to begin with like 2-3 hours, then slowly add an hour every week.

The clam and Zoo came after the light upgrade, and were under slightly stronger lights when I picked them out. The BTA woke up one day with a new light 20" or so above. The first week it looked better than ever, only the last 3 days has it not appeared fully extended.
It's the OuterOrbit Pro system
