MH too close? PICS Inside

This is my new hood Im building. After getting the reflectors...It seems I dont have enough room to mount like I had planned. So PLAN B is what you are looking at. The blue tape reresents where I would like to put the VHOs. My question is,because the MHs are so close to the VHOs, will the MHs "heat up " the VHOs and cause any damage to them? :help:

Yeah Stan, that was my first thought...outside the reflectors. If i mount the VHOs outside, should I "lower" them from the "celing" of the canapoy. If i mount directly to the top of canapoy,Im afraid the "batwings" will block some of the vho light.

I don't see any reason you couldn't put the VHO closer to the water on the outside of the MH, as long as you have water resistant caps for them you're good, they won't shatter if water gets on them.

Yeah,Im not to worried about the vhos being closer to the water..the top of the canopy is 10 inches off the water. So no to option 2?? Is that because of heat issues from the MHs, because option 2 will not put the VHOs closer to the water. The picture is the canopy on its "back" The front is at the top and the bottom is the back.

I wouldn't worry too much about that at all.

Why not just bend the reflectors back a bit and mount the VHOs in front of them? The light will still be directed downwards.

they make these sweet reflectors that have the light mounts built into them. I'd tell you where to get them but the "police" will hunt me down...

I don't speak pig latin, do you speak ban?
I hope so, because consider this your only warning. Any more links to competitors and you'll be using their forums exclusively....
Also, to other posters, please edit out illegal links if you quote someone so we don't have too

Agreed.
But also as another mod on the spread version, if your worried about the reflectors shading the VHO's then why not spread the reflector wider to more closely match the canopy and put them UNDER or even *gasp* cut them a bit around the VHO.
One last poke... Why not just cut back the wings or the reflector and add angled peices of true mirorred acrylic that run the length of the ********?
Just a thought since we are brainstorming........

Wow guess that wasn't a good idea. Sorry...... Journeyman was that a link? If so please show me where it took you...
I also think it's a little absurd you threaten to ban me for this??? I mean I could see if it were an actual link but it was no where close....
Anyhow back to the topic at hand, Ifirefight do a search on the internet for the reflectors with the built in places to mount your VHO's. It would be a much better solution and the tank would receive all of the lighting from the bulbs...

you have been on here since 2005 and getting around an actual link the way that you did is the same as posting the link itself. Doing it that way lets us know that you did it intentionally and knew it was against the rules.

if you are worried about where the VHO lights will be shining you can always angle a piece of wood where the fixture will attach to the canopy to aim the fixture to where you want it and still put it outside the bats ears and the heat of the MH lighting..

Thanks for the input Michael, we needed that clarification.
Yea I know it's against the rules to post links to competitors sites but as I mentioned before and in your "quote" show me the link I posted.??.

Typeing it backwards is just as bad but this is the post it was in...
now lets get back on topic for the original poster just keep in mind the rules of the board do not allow directing to another site in anyway shape or form. just because its not clickable doesnt mean its not a redirect.
