I am thinking about upgrading to MH. How many and what watts would I need to cover my 120g, 48"x24'x24'. And what brands are thought to be the best. Thanks for the help.

Minimum of 2 x 250 with some supplemental actinics depending on the bulbs you end up with. I've got a 90 with 2 x 250 10k's and 4 x 54 T5 actinics. You'll need the 250's for the 24" depth.

Thaks that is what I was thinking. Now where to get the money.
Could I keep one of the 4x65w pc i have to supplement?

You could,
I was going to do that with my pc ballasts that I currently have but found a hood system that had everything in it already (plus the fact that I hated my current DIY hood with the pc retro's in it I wanted something more user friendly so I opted for the whole package) probably could have done it cheaper but I'm a slave to convenience.
I hear you on the money thing but it was already time to change the PC bulbs I currently have and with 4 x 96 I was already looking at some $$, put that towards my new hood and I'll sell my ballasts when the MH bulbs arrive!
