whats the distance you all keep your mh lights from the water sufrace?

I keep mine about a foot from the water, but they are pendants with splashguards. Hope that helps.

mine hang from the ceiling above the tank, bout 9 inches from the water line..

i just finished hooking up mine and they ended up about 12.5 inches above my water line and was wondering if i should lower them a little or keep em where there at
i installed 2-250w 10k mh, now i have to hook up my actinics, but just wondering if i'm gonna lower my mh or keep em where there are before i mount my actnics

Ive had mine 13'" above the water for well over a year now with no probs. I have 2 - 250w 20k radiums. Yours will be fine IMO.

Mine are roughly 8-9 inches from the surface.
