MIAs

I purchased two neon gobies on Monday. They share a 45 gallon bowfront with a small yellow tang (please no tang police...plan to upgrade tank), two percs, a small 4-striped damsel, and a sand sifting star. I have a 4-6 inch sandbed.
Tuesday evening one of the gobies was MIA. I checked everything..filter, powerheads, around the outside of tank...nothing...no trace. Yesterday, the other gobie went MIA. No trace of him either. Is there something that I am missing here? I only have maybe 15 lbs of rock in the aquarium and have looked in the places that I can. Any suggestions or comments would be welcome.
Thanks,
Brock

I've had this happen too frequently. I still don't know what happens. However, I do know that my cleanup crew can polish off even a medium sized fish within an hour. If the fish dies without my knowledge, behind a rock or whatever, it will be long consumed before I likely know it's even missing. The other possibility is that they carpet surfed. I do believe a few of mine did carpet dive, flopped around underneath something and then died and shriveled up into just about nothing. I'll find them years from now, is my bed. When they die and dry, the look very similar to a dead, brown leaf, and without a close inspection, certainly don't look like fish.
Sorry your fish are missing. Maybe you'll get lucky and see them pop out from behind a rock tomorrow or something, I've had that happen too.

UPDATE!
This morning I decided to feed the tank with the lights off. To my suprise, I found both gobies. They look fine. Are these things nocturnal? I haven't seen them for 2 weeks. Will they burrow into the DSB and only come out at night? Any thoughts will be appreciated. Hopefully, when I go home today I will still be able to see them, or maybe in another few weeks....hmmm
