No it's not. People ALWAYS have to attribute something to something else it let it off the hook and help justify it. If there's ANY merit to a subject why do you compare it to something else? let it stand on it's own. And for what it's worth, saying something is bad, but something else is worse, should never be a way to justify anything...
The Drinking doesn't affect anyone around you." is easy to take out of context. I merely mean that I can sitting there quiet, have a glass of whatever to myself and not awake the neighbors. Unlike the incredibly nasty odor that comes from smoking.
I agree 100% that there are many, many problem with people
, that can't drink responisble, not problems with alcohol. A guns don't kill people, people kill people analogy.

By this logic, though, smoking marijuana is comparable to smoking cigarettes or cigars, isn't it?

To a degree, cigarette and cigar smoke/smell is unpleasant, but not remotely on the level marijuana is. Back in the apartment 3 years ago, the same guys that smoke marijuana also smoked cigarettes. I could faintly tell when they used cigarettes, but there was no denying when the wacky stuff was used.

I should have been forced out of my apartment because a couple of kids below me, used stuff I don't agree with? Just so they could laugh a bit more at some absolutely retarded Adult Swim crap?

not at all... but that is an unfortunate price you pay when you live in an apartment...

Why does it matter whether YOU agree with it? Personally, I hate the smell of cigarettes. I don't smoke marijuana, but I actually do like the smell (reminds me of the good ol' days
). Put alcohol and tobacco together and you have the equivalent issues that you do with weed. I say live and let live.

Because in that scenario, I am the one having to put up with it. If I bought a house near the airport, I'd agree there's going to be a lot of noise all the time. But I dont' agree I should move into an apartment, then weeks into it, have some stoner below me make it smell like crap all the time.

How about this one, why should he be able (pending the legalize of marijuana) to smoke all the time, and ruin my time, but I can't blast my stereo and ruin his time?

Why do I have to deal with smelly, tobacco smokers? IMO your argument that marijuana should be illegal because you don't like the smell just doesn't hold water.
When I lived in an apartment, I had to deal with stinky cigarettes, stinky food, stinky people, stinky pets, etc.

No, my argument is that it should remain
illegal for the reason I said before. I was just trying to answer why it matters to me. I guess another way, is that if I was blasting some really good music you really liked, you probably wouldn't call the cops. But if I put some real crap on there, the cops would be here very quickly.
but basically I don't see a point to it, and haven't been given reason to change my opinion. As I see it, people 'get high' to help escape from real life. Forget problems, make jokes seem funnier (everyone who thinks it's cool to get high and watch a movie
), etc. Sorry, but if life's that bad, there's a problem somewhere else.
