Mid-Michigan people?

I have heard several people talk about mushrooms doing well in low light. I would like to try some in my 90g. I just don't want to spend a great deal of money on them if they won't live in my tank. My question is... Does anyone have any that they would want to part with for a reasonable price so I could see if they will grow in my tank?

if you're in mid michigan take a drive to tropicorium in romulus...it's worth seeing once no matter what and you can certainly pick up a cheap shroom or two there.

I would love to go there sometime soon. It is 130 miles from me.
I just went today to a LFS and they wanted 10 bucks for a mushroom so small I couldn't tell what it was. I saw a tiny peice of rubble with 2 about the size of a nickel and they wanted 35 bucks for it! I didn't think they were all that great. Is this what I can expect to pay for something that I don't know is going to make it with my light set up?

a) yes that's overpriced. how far's ann arbor for you? i can suggest some better deals around here--i'd offer you one but i've never fragged before!
b) you should be able to sustain shrooms...they won't grow like wildfire, but they'll survive. i had some in my tank (55 gal with 2x40 watt light strips) before i upgraded my lighting and they were doing fine. if you can't find a reasonable shop and can't come up with $75 worth of stuff to order from this site i'd just spring for a mushroom rock you like, put it high up in the tank and give it time.

If you live in Mid-Michigan, then I'm sure that you shop at Preuss Animal House. If not, then you should. Rick and his staff are very knowledgable. They will be able to answer any questions that you may have. The also have dozens of tanks to show you what you want to see.

I have been to Preuss's and really like they're store. I live near Saginaw but plan on making a trip to Preuss's soon.
Thanx aileena I'm not sure how to shave them off a rock but I appreciate the offer. Maybe I will get ahold of you when I'm making my next trip to Lansing. I plan on going there next week sometime.

Robb - I think I can help you, I just started to move some things over from my 55 to the 90 as saw a couple of mushrooms wandering around the bottom of the tank unattached.
If you recall I'm in Midland so we sure arnt' far from each other.

Both those places you mentioned are ridicously overpriced, they both have a real good selection but just too much. Aquatic Discoveries in Strerling Hgts is having their Members only sale this weekend, they usually have some really good stuff.............

Have you tried Go Fish in Burton/Flint? The owner is great and they have good prices. Not an extensive selection but a good LFS.
What store in Lansing do you go to?

What are you looking to get for them? Are you getting rid of one or both of them? Why are you getting rid of them? I may be interested.

Ok I see your other post. I don't know how soon I can get there. I will know more tomorrow. Don't try to save it for me.

All Wet Pets in Flushing (just north of Flint).
They don't have a huge selection, but they do have some nice stuff, and their coral prices are pretty darn good. Preuss has a lot of good stuff, but they are way over priced.
