Might go look for snakes, need help

Well I am in virginia and I am going looking for snakes this afternoon. I need help on how to do and stuff like that. My main goal is to find a garter snake. I here there are 3 venomous snake ariubd here.
Can anyone give me any tips on this or anything?

u shud just buy a snake...ball pythons are wicked cheap online from breeders...a normal one is liek 25 bucks..
