Migrating paly

I had to go out of town for the weekend and when I came back my paly had moved from the rock onto the glass and is now wandering all over the front of the glass. Is this normal or is it not really a paly?

I got one from my LFS for free because it left the colony and was roaming the tank. It went on to become one of my two paly colonies having over 20 polyps on a single 2" vacant snail shell.

Can one of you post a pic? I have never heard of this and would love to see what they look like.
The centers are actually much greener than in the pic. For some reason my E-1 won't give me very good color.

Google corynactis or pseudocorynactis. A corallimorph. That is what your description sounds like to me.

It looks similar to that but it has more tentacles.

BTW, they are dangerous to handle with your bare hands. Don't touch them if you have any open cuts. Never had an issue, but these guys are the only thing in my tank that I take extra precaution with. Palytoxin is pretty bad stuff from what I read.
Here's a quote from Wiki...
" Palytoxin, isolated from soft coral, is considered to be one of the most toxic non-peptide substances known, second only to Maitotoxin."
Hawaiians used it as (deadly) poison on

points.
