Bleach is awsome. I use it to get rid of any algae or anything that needs to be cleaned. Soak it in bleach and get a pipe cleaner to ream it in and out to remove anything inside of it. Yesterday I just cleaned my return pump hoses, pumps, and misc plastic parts. Just make sure you rinse them well.
If you do any search on bleach it eventually turns into saltwater.

Bleach is ok... just make sure you rinse it completely and let it dry. I don't like using bleach eather and so I just spray my hoses out with the pressure washer. Be careful not to spray your hand...

Hook up a small pump/PH to the end and submerge the entire hose with PH in a 5 gal bucket with 3 gals of water and .5-1 gal of white vinegar. Let it run over night and in the morning no more mold or anything else for that matter......

I didn't know that bleach eventually turns to saltwater...I use bleach when cleaning my house, but was concerned that if I used it with my aquatics that a residue would be left even after numerous rinses.
I was also thinking of vinegar... this is another agent that I use to clean with (glass...etc). It is acidic, and I wasn't sure if it was strong enough to clean, but duh!! lol

Thank you all for responding.

Bleach you have to rinse and let dry completely. It will evaporate off of what ever you clean. I like vinegar b/c if there is some remaining it will not harm your tank. I use vinegar on everything. Just fill up a bucket and let it do its thing.......

Using bleach will be fine. Bleach is made from saltwater and when it breaks down, it reverts back into saltwater. Saltwater is somehow given an electrical charge and made into bleach. This is just a brief description, if you want to read a complete description, follow this link http://www.madehow.com/Volume-2/Bleach.html
