COPIED and PASTED
"A Warning Sign of Impending Caulerpa Sporulation
I'm sure most hobbyists that have kept Caulerpa in their refugium or display tank know about or have experienced this algae's reproductive activity. "Going sexual," as we all like to call it. This has happened to me as well. I have had the displeasure of waking up to a cloudy tank three times in the past, and I assure you I definitely know what a mess it is to deal with. However, this time, I happened to document the events leading up to the event with some photographs. These photos clearly show some warning signs of the imminent sexual activity. Distinctive and noticeable changes take place in the algae prior to the release of the spores. Upon noticing these changes, a bit of quick action can head off the potential problems of sporulation. "
The key, I've heard, is to keep it in your fuge with lights on 24/7 and keep it pruned. It needs a day/night cycle to reproduce.

If it's not your Caulerpa going sexual, then your clam might be trying to spawn (think you would need more than 1 for that though... just thinking)

Your caulerpa is probably blowing all over the place. This tends to only happen with grape (bubble) caulerpa though. Doubtfull that your clam would spawn unless your tank is hit by direct sunlight. If I ever get something in my water that I don't want, I just go to the a local pet store and buy the BIGGEST CHEAPEST container of carbon that I can find and replace the carbon about every 3 hours. It will most likely cause an algae bloom or a spike in phosphates for a short period of time, but..............

I run carbon 24/7 on the tanks that I go to the store and buy MASSIVE amounts of CHEAP carbon for too. Just means that I need to run more of it to remove the excess that the carbon that I am already running isn't taking care of on it's own.
