min amout of LR for 38g FO tank

Ok I'll finaly get to put my sytem together this weekend. :jumping: What is the Min amout of LR per Gal. I've read a couple differant things. I think I'll be using the fiji stuff. :notsure:

There is no minimum weight. I only have 45 lbs in my 90G tank. The key here is surface area. Rocks can vary in density depending on where they came from. I have 30 lbs of lace rock and 15lbs of marshall island (the least dense I have found) and it damn near fills up my tank.

your explanation makes the most sence from any I've heard.
the guy at the LFS wanted to sell me 45 pounds at 8.00 lb
when i laughed at him he sugested a smaller amout and some base rock at 2.00lb
I just baught 10lb fiji off ---- 40.00 with shipping

yep, mix lr and base rock, that's the smartest thing to do. and as long as you're not relying on the lr as filtration or food, then there is no min. you don't have to have any. Lr just helps flitration and give inverts and fish food and a playground
