Can you use the garlic juice from minced garlic (in a jar) to soak the fish food in?

I don't know if I would. I prefer fresh garlic or Kent's bottled garbage when I'm lazy.
LOL...I started the thread....then thought.....hmmmmm....someone is gonna ask the ingredients....as soon as the saw the phosphoric acid I figured....hmm PROBABLY NOT but posted anyway
When you use fresh cloves, how do you use it? I mean you just want the juice..right??

There is probably a more effective method out there, but I use a garlic press and try to get just the juice onto the fish food.
I have actually put the whole peeled clove in the food processor w/ some tank water and just blended it up until it's liquid or as close to liquid as possible and just add it to the food. I don't know whether it's good/bad/indifferent, but my Naso Tang actually likes eating little slivers of garlic. It will hunt them down in the water when I feed, lol

What are you wanting to do with the garlic though? Garlic, IMHO, is really only an appetite simulator, if that. Hype and myth really seem to run wild with garlic....
The healthy "antibacterial" properties of garlic comes from Allicin, which is really only available from fresh diced/minced garlic. Even then, Allicin is very unstable and just by adding fresh garlic to the tank, the very saltwater in the tank would be more then enough to remove any positives from Allicin, before the fish consume it.

I add a garlic additive to my fish food every day....I was going to try fresh.
I thought it was good for the fish
...SO am I wasting my time with it LOL
I also use selcon, zoe, zoecon and vitachem (alternating)

If doing what you're doing works, I wouldn't say to go change anything up. I guess if you wanted to get really basic, like a algae turf scrubber, there isn't necessarily a negative to feeding garlic in reasonable amounts. But there is little research on garlic/Allicin, and most of what's out there, doesn't look promising for some of the magical claimed abilities of garlic, esp. bottled stuff.

If I don't add garlic to my food, my anthias won't eat so I have no choice. I've tried numerous times to not have to add it and each time, they won't go for the food, or they spit it back out.

So, I was just thinking! (scary, I know)
Years ago(before they came out with frontline) I used to give my dog garlic

[hr]
daily to prevent fleas.
It would give her some stinky gas, but she never had fleas........hmmmmm.....I am now wondering if the same properties are why it (sometimes) seems to help with ich?

So basically, I am a former aquarium tech who is now helping run a brand new aquarium supply web store, and we have a pretty great garlic additive designed specifically for aquatic use http://www.selectaquariumsupply.com/...-garlic/Detail
And having worked on numerous tanks, I do recommend using garlic in an aquarium's diet, the stuff is basically a miracle worker in increasing appetite and fighting off infection.
I'm also just looking for opinions on the new site. Thanks everybody.

Welcome to the site!
Just so you know, we are not allowed to post links to other sites on this forum. I've gotten yelled at for posting links to other forums with good information on them, so web-based companies are a big no-no.
I'm not sure if garlic is a miracle worker when it comes to fighting infection, appetite, definitely, infection, not so sure. I've treated sick fish with and without garlic (fresh and bottled) and noticed very little difference between it being there or not. That being said, I think it does make sickly fish more likely to eat, therefore getting the needed meds/vitamins, and that's where the miracle effect of it helping fight infection actually comes into play. Just my thoughts.

There is an info-post in the FAQ Topic, in the Disease Forum that explains why freshly minced garlic is good for fish with ich.
