wow, ive only had like 4-5 of those in my tank ever, i think my fish got them. Or my nitrates were to high and they died, but they go unmissed. I dont know if you can have too many, do they look like they irratate the stuff in your tank? BTW got enough snails?HAHA

If they are reproducing I'd say thats a good thing. I had an overpopulation of the very tiny (appx. 1/2-3/4 of an inch in diameter) banded serpents, but wow, that is a pretty good sized serpent on your clam. They are a beneficial part of your clean up crew. How about putting some in your other tank? I have never had problems with them bothering any corals or other invert. Just be happy, you have a very healthy tank!

Unmissed? They do a splended job at finding leftover food.

Mine all stay this size. It is aggrivating sometimes, I have to pick through my cheato for them, hate to kill any. This is appx. 40-50 I gave to my brother.

I probably kill hundreds of them when I harvest cheato. they are prolific when the food supply is abundant. no worries if you have a lot of them its because there is ample food for them. much like bristle worms. if you think you have too many then you should eliminate the food source for them.

I don't think there are too many, WELL....actually I wasn't sure...LOL....that's why I asked...can you have too many

they don't seem to bother anything, and I have never seen one as big as the one on the clam either

there are a bunch of different species of them some achieve larger sizes than the others. I wouldnt worry about it, meowzer, unless your starting to show nuisance algaes. if its a sudden increase in population it could be a precursor to an outbreak, if you recently increased bioload or feeding intervals.

Ok, well I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but some brittles are known to eat clams on occasion. I would at least pull that one off your deresa.

There are all sorts of different varieties we find in our tanks. Some have a tendency to get bigger than others. Every now and them we see a "Daddy-sized one" like in your pic.
