No, actually they have quite a character!!! Very funny. I used to hold live black worms up for him and he would come right up and take them from my hand. Then whenever I had to reach into the tank to do anything he was all over my hands looking for stuff. Very cool fish.

Baby whales are very cute!!!!!! I like the ones with the purple sheen on the black speckled body. There are so many different ones, yet they are all just labled "baby whales"

we spent 2 weeks in August (our annual family ritual in Indian Shores) and drove over there. :scared: I generally don't care for the beachy side of Clearwater, but my kids love the "junk" stores once a year. Johns Pass is 2nd. You would think after all these years (their whole life) of going there, they would tire............NOoooooooooo.
The Clearwater Aquarium is a little slice of me. Once or twice a year for years I've been going there. Last year I made 2 distress calls to them. Once for a beatiful logerheard suffering from red tide and the other for a very disoriented dolphin later found out to be suffering from red tide related problems. They are great. When we were there in August...."Winter" was not out for full time show yet. But she is now........I'll post some pics. :joy:
Mo the 40+ year old logerhead just died
my kids loved him.
Candy Kitchen............

oooohhh, yeah! manatees!!! i LOVE them!!! i wanna go swimming with manatees so bad!!!
We went to Sanibel Island in Florida a few years ago and while swimming in the Gulf of Mexico, we had 2 manatees swim about 10-15 feet further out than we were...they were so cool, we swam along for about 1/2 mile before we realized how far we had went. Definitely one of the coolest things we did on that vacation...that and finding two HUGE gators on the golf course!

I think its funny how certian freshwater fish are named a bit deciveing. For instance...Bala sharks are not sharks at all, infact they are minnows. Elaphant nose (freshwater dolphin) and baby whales are not those marine (or freshwater versions) mammals at all but fish from the Mormyridae family. (as previously posted) They are very interesting fish however. I had a black ghost knife that got about a foot long. I cut a the bottom off a large wine bottle so I could veiw him throughout the day. They send out a weak electrical current (all fish from the mormyridae family do) because they have poor eye sight to help them find food and "see" better. This is why they hide all day and come out at night. (If you dont keep them well fed your smaller tetras will slowly start disappearing) Just so everyone knows these are not real whales, dolphins, sharks. lol. they are fish. Who ever picked their names....that was a GREAT marketing on their part.

Wow... you know, technically this could be done... I mean how many generations of selective breeding from a wolf to a toy poodle are there?
All me need is one serious breeding facility.
Of course the relatively long gestation periods of marine mammals is going to hinder us greatly.
Now... everyone start saving your coins, cause you're going to need a bigger skimmer when we start introducing dolphins and whales to our aquariums.
