Misrepresentation ~ what is board policy

Is there a board policy in place for people who misrepresent themselves. With this I mean claim to be in a different part of the country than where they are. In other words deliberately lie. Are we all just allowed to lie as much as we want? I know... stupid question... everybody lies.

People lie all the time. People get caught all the time too. They get bombarded with direct quotes of contradicting info they said.
Some people hafta lie cause they got banned and wanna come back.
Why, who's lying?? I'll be up all night reading their posts, lol...
Oh hey BTW, I saw you on RASOC!
I visit, but don't post much since I don't live there anymore. Course I could be lying.

Very true or they try to cover their tracks... There is always the dreaded IP address that will reveal the true location for most of us...

I added some in the first post. I am not sure how it works, but I THINK that they only check your IP after your suspicious.
I mean if I logged in under another username with another email addy, they would really have no reason to compare the IP's, til they start getting suspicious.
Sometimes I wanna log in under another name and just let loose with opinions.

I'm not sure the answer about policy, but I see lots of folks who don't put where they are then want shipping quotes and stuff.
Personally, I like to see what reefers are near me in case they need help, can help, want to trade or sell frags, and what not.
I assume this thread is about something????

some know what I mean and you who this refers to, no matter how much you try to claim you live somewhere else, reef experience etc... you are still a lier. Losing gracefully is unfortunately something that you either have and for some it does not come naturally

And I will apologize in writing if I'm wrong, but I'm 100% sure I'm not. His tank size mentioned is not correct, it's less than half... not been in the hobby for 5 yrs, but since last summer... fish list is correct + about a handful other fish.
Overcrowded tank and he wonders why all Naso Tangs that he orders die quickly. I think he told me has killed 3 Naso tangs but luckily the site he gets them from have a guarantee... poor fish. I took pics of his tank. It's beautiful until you start seeing how many fish is crammed into a tank full of LR and very little swimming space.
Anyways.. I'm off my soap box

There is no "official" policy and making people tell the truth.
I will say, however, that if/when we as Mods catch someone posting under alternative accounts we tend to come down pretty hard on them. Typically if they are already on our "watch" list they get moved to the ban pile. If they haven't been on our radar previously this kind of behavior earns them a permanent spot on the watch list.

exactly also when the board slows at time I personally start going through peoples post and if something stands out or something sounds fishy I will check IPs and research further if something is found the other mods are alerted in the shark tank to watch out for possible trouble.
