Missing Lionfish!

Was wondering if this is common for lionfish to disapear for days when they are put in a new tank. We had one shipped from Vancouver on Saturday, he took off behind the rocks and we havent seen him yet. Its been 5 days now and no sign. Should I be worried.....not really planning on disasembling the tank to look for him.

I'm not real familiar with lionfish but i know it is normal for fish to hide in the rocks when you first put them in. I'd say it's probably not good if you haven't seen any sign of him for 5 days. I can usually at least see them hiding in the rocks, uno? don't know if this will help or not.

yeah we had a lion in a previous fish only tank and he was active right away....took acouple of days to eat but all in all no issues. We havent seen this guy since we got him. Tank params are normal too so I dont know whats up?

Lions like to perch, sometimes out of view, but none of mine have ever disappeared. After 5 days I wouldn't consider that normal behaviour.

Its a fu man chu...lion fish and I havent seen it at night either.....any thoughts on if it is deads or not how bad for the tank it will be? 180G display, 30G sump, 30G refuge. Will a full cleanup crew take care of it?

I'd say you're clean up crew should def. take care of it, I'm sure it's already long gone. just check ur water levels. I've had a fish or 2 die in my 200 and never saw a dead body....and never had any problems with my tank afterwards either.

A Fu is very cryptic. Don't turn the lights on today. Or turn them off now. Later, put some food on a stick and hold it in the tank for awhile. If nothing do it again at night with some dim room lighting. If nothing put some live food in there. And again, if nothing, grab a flashlight and start looking around in holes and crevices because they like to hide.
Is there a backing on your tank?
EDIT: Oh sorry, I have fish only tanks for the most part. Are you able to turn the lights off for a day?

Fumanchu lionfishes are very shy skittish lions. They tend to hide alot between rocks and crevices. They are also one of the most hard to care for lions as well. Weaning them to accept frozen is a hard task, which requires alot of patience and training.
They are also slow, so i hope you don't have other predator fishes in the tank. If so, you will have to target feed the manchu, even then he still will be hard to care for.

Its been 6.5 days and I came home late last night and had alook in the tank........there he was and as soon as he was there he took off to the back again. I didnt realize how small he was, I hadnt ever seen him to that point. He sure didnt look healthy though! Oh well ......hopefully he survives.
