Missing Royal Dottyback and Fairy Wrasse!

So I haven't noticed my royal dottyback and fairy wrasse in the past 48 hours. I recently added a Yellow Tang to my RT theres 125 lb of LR. I noticed the dottyback is quite aggresive towards the fairy wrasse they are missing; no bodies I looked everywhere...They were over the past few weeks fighting for territory. I know It's a possiblity they jumped out of the tank some of these animals are jumpers, however I looked around the tank and they're nowhere to be found.I don't have a cover on my tank but they would have to get a great jump to get out since I have two 2x4's holding up my MH's and the only openings are in the back and front and unless they can travel accross the room they are mising. I can only think of 3 other possiblities;
1-They somehow jumped into the collection cup and got sucked into the sump (I run a wet/dry).
2-They are somewhere in a hole or cave in the LR where I can't possible see even though I checked thoroughly.
3- My carpet ate them which is highly doubtful since hes spot fed into his mouth 2x a week a cube of frozen brine shrimp not to mention all the other foods he gets from the clowns and flow in the tank. He hasn't moved stays in the same spot...I doubt this happend.
I did a full scale test for all my levels and they remain the same as the past few months so if they passed or killed eachother no rise in Nitrates.
I still remain optimistic that they are just "sleeping" and still alive or in the 80 gal. RT a small tiny fish won't make the Nitrate go up.
I'm at a loss here...

Might have been the CBS arghhhh. Got him out into another tank. Still no evidence as the bodies are not in the DT at least not visable to me.

they may jsut be hiding from the addition of the YT.

They can live in the wet/dry on the filter pads ? If so for how long and should I put it back in the DT? Would it be in the foam in the collection box or more likely in the pads in the wet/dry ?

i could swear my purple pseudo was in there for a few days.
he was missing over a week, but he may have been in the prefilter for a few days.

Do you have a dog or a cat? If they did jump out then another animal might have eated them.... Theres been post on here about that happening.
Good luck, i would hate to have to wait days before finding out if my fish was alive or not.

do you have a top on your tank..it is not a question if but when a fairy will jump also dottybacks are not a good mix with fairys or flashers..they will fight..the only one that i know of that does ok with them are the orchirds and even they are hit and miss...your fairy might be hiding in the rocks because of the aggerssion they hide very well i have a hard time finding mine when the go to sleep..i hope you can find your two fish...good luck with them and keep us posted!!!!

I did not know that...I looked all around the tank but could not find any fish my tank is not completely covered but its covered a bit so it would be hard for the fish to jump out...I noticed the royal dottyback to be quite aggresive towards the fairy wrasses they are extremely terretorial. If they fought and killed eachother wouldn't thier bodies float to the top of the tank or be visable ? with all the flow and movement in the DT I would have expected to seen one of them in the past week or so...

I had a green carpet anemone that ate my Scopas Tang. I woke up one morning and he was gone. Took it back to the LFS and it spit the remains out on the way there.

if i were you i would get the top completly covered if you want to keep fairy wrasses and eggcrate will not work either..i had to learn the hard way with eggcrate also fairys can find a hole and go right through it...if they did die and you have a good cleanup crew you probally would not see them...i had a very large scotts fairy die and there was nothing left of it the next day...my clean up crew made short work of it
