I am having a problem with my shrimp always dissapearing. I'll buy a cleaner shrimp or peppermint and within a couple days they dissapear without a trace. I would really like to keep a shrimp for more than a few days and I don't have any ideas as to why they keep dissapearing. Any help would be appreciated :)
Thanx

What is the salinity of your tank?
What is salinity of water shrimp came in?
Shrimp are more sensitive to salinity changes. If the change is to great the shrimp will stress more. If this is the case it might be that there on the bottom stressing and the brittle star is getting them. Is it a green brittle star? And how often is it fed?
My green brittle star is feed krill everyother day. Yours might think it's bing feed. Just a suggestion. HTH

The water that the shrimp came in was about 1.020 so I accumulated them very slowly. After I let them out of the bag they were fine for about 3 days. I usually fed my green brittle about every few days. Most of the time the shrimp seemed to stay away from the brittle but maybe he was able to catch them eventually

Have you tried looking behind the tank, on the floor?
or down the sides.... I had a few jump out on me.
They can make it to places a few yards away since they
"filp" ang "jump" pretty wildly once out of the tank.
I found one all dried up a few feet away behind the sofa
before I figured out what was going on.

I don't think they jumped out because I have a hood on my tank witch I'm pretty sure is escape proof. Been doing a few night watches and haven't seen any signs of mantis shimp, but a few of my hermits have been dieing. But I'm thinking its my brittle that ate my shrimp. Thanx everybody for your input :D
