Mixing Angles

I was just wondering whether it would be safe to introduce more than one dwarf angel in the same tank. I was thinking along the lines of a Coral Beauty and perhaps either a Half-Black Angel, a Bi-Color Angel or a Midnight Angel all together in a 70 gallon w/o lr. The tank has a terrific algae/bacteria base and the assortment of dead corals provide various covers and shelters. So has anyone else tried this and would it be advisable? Thanx in advance.

I've been told it can't be done but like every fish question and answer there are exceptions. It all really depends on the individual fish. But I have a question for the experts out there. How would a 3 inch juvi emporer angel do with a 3.5 inch flame angel? The flame appears to be the stronger fish? How would they deal together? I had a purple tang with the juvi and the angel got bullied nonstop. Would the flame be better?

The obvious is to have pleanty of space so they can avoid each other if a tiff arises. Angels really get around in a tank so the less they run into each other the better.
I was told that you will have much better luck having two Angels if their color patterns are very different. For example if you put two Flames in together you'll have constant battles, where a Flame and a Coral Beauty might do fine. So with that you may have issues with the Bi-Color and Half-Black.
Maybe someone can confirm this with experience.

I think the key is to have different sizes between the two. I also agree on the color patterns. For example a Koran angel/ Imperator/ Cortez angel would find each other as a threat due to the color patterns. This is also true for dwarfs. I've had two dwarfs together woithout much problem but they were small and in a 100 gallon tank with plenty of rockwork.

i have one flame angel with Queen Juv on my 55 G.I introduced my queen juv after flame.They got along with no problem..
I think purple tang that i have was too agressive towards to Queen angel, so that there was no time and chance that flame could pick on queen angel i guess.

Another thing that will help is to buy them at the same time. I have 3 angels in my 75gal. Two of them were put in at the same time and I have no problems out of any of them. HTH.

As mentioned, there are no perfect answers, just probabilities. If you go according to probability on compatablity, the following is noted:
Dwarf Angel with Dwarf Angel - Caution
Dwarf Angel with Large Angel - Compatible
Large Angel with Large Angel - Incompatible

Today I was at the lfs and I purchased a beautiful Bicolor Angel as well as a Coral Beauty. They both went in the tank at the same time and seem to be doing fine. Thanx for the opinions and I'll post later to let you all know how things are going.

From my experience, you can have a few angels in the same tank as long as they are from different oceans and have different shapes. I have a 7 inch French, a 5 inch Blue Face, and a 5 inch Asfur in a 125 high with plenty of dead coral and deep green algae covering it. I also have a 6 inch Blonde Naso in there. They get along well. I might add another angel and a smaller tang soon. What do you guys think?

Well maybe I am getting my measurements wrong because it appears that I have plenty of space for at least one more 4-5 inch Angel. Also, Angels tend to grow slowly so I think I have plenty of time before I would need an upgrade. However, in the next few years I plan to purchase the last tank in my collection which will be at least 300 gallons. If I had a 4-5 inch Imperator and a 3-4 inch tang, how long do I have before I would need an upgrade?

i have a 125 with lots of live rock and i have a nox angel, coral beauty, flame angel, and swallowtail or blackspot female angel and they all get along just fine all close in size and well fed might get a bicolor or lemonpeel soon to finish it off but its all a calculated rish when getting angels i usually watch to see if they are aggresive towards other fish in the store before i get them

Can you mix any other (adult angels) with a king angelfish(a.k.a passer angelfish)? My lfs said they can't when I get my bigger tank around xmas, I was thinking about getting angels. I really like kings, but my lfs said they can't be kept with other angels.

I don't think you can get any other Angels with a passer(king). If you get one, it better be the smallest fish in the tank. Most of those guys are relentless once they get started on a fish. They are bullies.

Would maybe a 5 in. king get a long with a 7 or 8 in. french or queen angelfish?

I think you might eventually have problems. I think you could try a Queen twice the size of the Passer but personally I would stay away from the Passer all together. They look beautiful but they are bullies. You never know, you might get one that is a little more passive than usual. Just make sure you get the Passer last and that is his much smaller than anything else in the tank. Also, get one that has plenty of juvenile colors. The more adult they look, the more aggressive they are.

If you want to put another angel with the passer it has to be bigger and in a different family,like a maculosis or a emperor.Passers are really aggressive,so the maculosis angel would probably be the best choice because they are aggressive.
