mixing gobies

Ok its another dumb question from me. Tank is 110 gallon running as good as it gets. I want to put a sand sifting goby in like the diamond goby for now. Then in 6 months when my tank is more established I would like to add a mandarin is this possible or am I wasting money. I have heard and read you cant mix.

You can mix gobies. You just need to be sure not to overcrowd. As long as each has enough territory to claim they will get along. There may be an occational squabble for territory but this is natural.
That said, Mandarins are not Gobies. They will get along fine with a Diamond Goby.

You're welcome. Also, you can layer fish to limit the squabbling. For example, a Clown Goby is going to hang around the top of the rocks or on the glass. A Neon Goby will hang in the middle of the rocks, your Diamond Goby will hang out on the sand bed. Their territories may overlap a little but they are not directly competing for real estate.

That's great advice, and something I wish more people would think about when stocking their tanks. Each tank has it's own set of "zones," and stocking with those territories in mind is ALWAYS a good idea.
Morgan, why don't you post some shots of your 110? I have one too; I'd love to see some other examples (personally I love the size of this tank).
You shouldn't have any issues with a Mandarin in a 110g tank, esp. if you have a fuge and/or a decent amount of LR.
