Is there any harm in using a Flotec utility pump (which I already have and was used to empty a pool) to mix saltwater and move it into the tank? It is 1/4 HP and will move over 1000 gallons a day. My concerns are that it will leak some contaminants into the water from the aluminum construction (although it is a submersable pump) or from being used to previously move pool water. If I make sure it is clean will it work in place of a powerhead in a 30 gallon can?
