Mixing saltwater?

Hello
Does anyone know exactly how much sea salt is needed in a one gallon container to get to 1.025? And what do you use to get a good measurement?
Thanks

It all depends on the sea salt you use. I use Oceanic and it is 1 cup for every 2 gallons. I useally mix it 2 days before then use a refractometer to adjust it to get salinity to 1.025. If it is to low I add more salt little by little. What do you have to measure Salinity?

I use a hydrometer. Its ok but the same 1/2 cup of "Instant Ocean" sea salt tends to get me various readings. They're all close but it varies> Any suggestions?

I've heard nothing good of Hydrometers, many have complained that they get various readings. I would recommend a Refractometer, you'll pay at least $50 but your readings will be dead on. Considering the importance of the Salinity with SWF this is one piece of equipment I wouldn't penny pinch on.

I totally agree with this. A refractometer is one piece of equipment no hobbyist should go without. However:

is not true. SWF.com sells an excellent refractometer for $41.99.
